Since our research report on Mobile Payments was published in June 2011, the Mobile Commerce (“mCommerce”) market has continued to develop at an impressive pace and we have continued to actively support hot start-ups in the sector. The foundations are currently being laid for a mCommerce explosion, as smartphone penetration rates soon surpass 50% in several key regions, consumer demand and behaviour are being transformed, and retailers are investing in their mobile offerings. Due to these enabling factors settling in, U.S. mCommerce sales are expected to grow at close to 50% year-on-year 2011-2015. Clearly, the potential for retailers is immense, and we envision the mCommerce evolution to revolutionise how supply meets consumer demand.
