Hugh Campbell
Managing Partner

Hugh Campbell is one of the Founding Partners of GP Bullhound. Hugh has an extensive experience in M&A and capital raising transactions in the Technology, Cleantech and Digital Media sectors, involving recent mandates such as 4energy, Interactive Investor, Avito.ru and Figleaves. Hugh is a frequent speaker at events and conferences including CEBIT, the Mobile Web Summit and the Mobile Games Forum. He started his career with Citibank in M&A before moving on to Goldman Sachs where he worked in Equity Research. Hugh is from an entrepreneurial publishing family who sold John Murray Publishers, founded in 1769, to Hachette in 2002 and founded an e-learning business, Pastest Limited, in 1970 where Hugh still sits on the Board. In 2000, Hugh left Goldman Sachs and spent most of the year working and living in Beijing, China before going back to his investment banking roots by co-founding GP Bullhound. Hugh graduated from Pembroke College, Oxford and holds a BSc in Psychology, Physiology and Philosophy.

Christian Lagerling
Managing Partner

Christian is one of the Founding Partners of GP Bullhound. He has spent the past fifteen years advising global companies on technology transactions and investments with a particular focus on cross-border transactions. He moved to San Francisco in 2006 to open up the firm's US west coast office, and also oversees the firm’s research activities. Having started his career in management consulting, Christian moved to London to finish his degree studies at LSE and then joined the investment banking division of Barclays Capital. Christian holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Economics and a M.Sc in Finance as well as the FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 securities licenses. Christian lives in Tiburon, CA, is married with two kids and an avid tennis player.

Manish Madhvani
Managing Partner

Manish is one of the Founding Partners of GP Bullhound. Since 1997 he has executed M&A and capital raising transactions involving some of the best known global internet, technology and media companies including: Sony, The Telegraph, WPP, Concentrix, Figleaves, Flirtomatic, Euroffice, eCommera, Handbag, Hearst Corporation, Newscorp and Private Outlet. Manish is currently Chairman of the Investor Allstars and Media Momentum judging panels and is on the board of Private Outlet a Pan European fast growing online fashion company. He is a regular speaker / panellist at conferences including Digital Hollywood, The Global E-commerce Summit, TiE, Internet World, Red Herring, White Bull, BVCA and EVCA.  Manish started his career at Barclays Capital's Private Equity team, investing up to $200m in fast growing Technology and Media companies. Manish who has advised the Treasury on Entrepreneurship and was short listed for business person of the year at the KPMG Awards, graduated from Southampton University with an LLB in Law / MA in Marketing.

Per Roman
Managing Partner

Per Roman is one of the Founding Partners of GP Bullhound. Per has completed trade sale and fund raising transactions and has made investments in and for European technology and Internet companies for well over a decade. He appears as a regular technology commentator at industry conferences such as Red Herring, Next10, SIME and EVCA as well as on channels such as CNN, CNBC Europe, BBC World and Bloomberg TV. He started his banking career at Lehman Brothers Inc., focused on technology M&A and equity capital market transactions. Per also has experience from the software industry where he held roles in Europe and the US for Autodesk, Inc. Per graduated from Stockholm School of Economics and holds an MSc in Finance.

Martin Smith
Chairman

Martin has been involved in the financial services sector for more than 30 years. He was a Founder and Senior Partner of Phoenix Securities, becoming Chairman of European Investment Banking for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette following the sale of Phoenix to DLJ. He was a Founder of New Star Asset Management Ltd. and has a number of other directorships and business interests, including senior adviser to Bain Capital, Director of Odgers Ray and Berndtson and Chairman of Finsbury Worldwide Pharmaceutical Trust. His pro-bono interests include serving as Chairman of the Smith Centre at the Science Museum, Governor of the Royal Academy of Music, and Director of Glyndebourne Arts Trust. His family have recently initiated the creation of the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford University.

Graeme Bayley
Partner / COO

Graeme joined GP Bullhound in 2009 and is responsible for GP Bullhound's Finance, Compliance, IT, HR and Operations.  He started his career at Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PwC) where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant before working in corporate finance.  He then moved to HSBC Investment Bank where he ran the Growth Companies Team, later joining Noble & Co as a Director in Corporate Finance before taking on the management of Noble's finance, compliance and operations. Graeme is a Fellow of the ICAEW and holds their Corporate Finance qualification along with a BSc in Physics from Southampton University.

Guillaume Bonneton
Partner

Guillaume was a senior banker at Jefferies in their European digital media practice and was previously part of the team at LongAcre, a corporate finance boutique acquired by Jefferies in 2007. Guillaume will continue to focus on the digital media sector and brings expertise in Europe in areas such as online travel, digital marketing and lead generation. His previous deals include two rounds of fundraising for DailyMotion, the secondary LBO of Easyvogage by GIMV and UFG, and the sale of Kelkoo by Yahoo!. Prior to that, Guillaume was a Vice President at Deutsche Bank within the European Media Corporate Finance group.

ALEC DAFFERNER

Alec is head of GP Bullhound's San Francisco office. With over twelve years of technology investment banking experience, Alec has executed over 50 transactions for emerging growth companies in the U.S. and abroad, raising over $10 billion in capital and advising on over $2.5 billion in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining GP Bullhound in 2008, Alec was an Executive Director at UBS in the Global Technology Investment Banking group where he focused primarily on the Internet and Digital Media sectors. Prior to joining UBS in 2001, Alec worked at Volpe Brown Whelan  Company in San Francisco where he focused on Internet, Communications and Software-related technology companies. Alec is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lord Clive Hollick
Partner

Lord (Clive) Hollick was appointed a Partner of GP Bullhound in 2010. Lord Hollick is currently a director of ProSiebenSat.1, Honeywell International Inc, BMG Music Rights Management ag and senior director at Diageo plc.  Previously, he was a partner at KKR where he headed the Media industry team in Europe, served as Chairman of SBS Broadcasting and a director of The Nielsen Company (formerly VNU Group). He was CEO of United Business Media, an international publishing, information, broadcasting and market research group. He began his career as an investment banker with Hambros and then built up a global money and securities broking business that subsequently became ICAP plc. He has also held positions as a director of Logica, Havas, TRW and BAe Systems and was Chairman of the South Bank Centre, Europe's largest arts centre. He founded the IPPR think-tank in 1986 and became a member of the House of Lords in 1991. He holds a B.A. and Doctorate from Nottingham University.

SIMON NICHOLLS
Partner

Simon is a Partner of GP Bullhound, which he joined in 2011.  Prior to joining GP Bullhound, Simon was a Managing Director at Ingenious Corporate Finance, the M&A advisory business of the Ingenious Media Group, which he joined in 2003.  Simon has advised on a wide range of M&A and capital markets transactions with 15 years experience focussing on the media, digital media & internet sectors. He has advised on transactions in digital media, e-commerce, digital marketing, data analytics, marketing services, broadcasting, video on demand, television production, professional and business information, consumer publishing, music, media services and media technology. Prior to joining Ingenious in 2003, Simon was a Director in UBS Warburg’s European Corporate Finance Media team, where he advised on large-cap international media & internet transactions. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte & Touche and is a graduate of Durham University.

Andre Shortell
Partner

Andre joined GP Bullhound as a Partner in 2010. Prior to joining, Andre was an independent adviser to companies and investment funds in the clean tech sector. Andre also spent 26 years in a number of senior roles in Citigroup including MNC Corporate Banking Head for CEEMEA, India Corporate Head, Global Autos Specialist and New Issues Head in London.  He also ran Merchant Acquiring for Citibank and led the sale of that business in 2005. Andre brings to the team 10 years of involvement in renewable energy as well as experience in Corporate Finance, M&A and Emerging Markets. He also brings a broad international experience having spent much of his career in Europe and Asia as well as close personal ties to Brazil. Andre has a MA degree in International History from the London School of Economics.

PER LINDTORP
Director

Per joined GP Bullhound in 2011. He has a broad experience across the technology sector and in particular within mobile and fixed communications. Prior to joining GP Bullhound, Per spent more than ten years as an equity research analyst covering primarily the telecom equipment sector and was Head of Telecom Equipment research for ABN AMRO/RBS in London. He has also worked for Ericsson. Per holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology with a major in Telecommunication Systems.

Cecilia Roman
Director of Marketing

Prior to joining GP Bullhound, Cecilia Roman was working at Morgan Stanley in the MSCI team. Before this, Cecilia was at GP Bullhound in its build up phase. As the Head of Marketing and Client relations she was responsible for third party contacts, brand building and developed the distribution network. Cecilia started her career as a Strategy Management Consultant, working at Arthur Andersen focussing on e-business and internet companies. Cecilia holds an M.Sc in Business and Economics from Stockholm University.

Claudio Alvarez
Vice President

Claudio joined GP Bullhound in 2007 and is a Vice President. Carl Bergholtz
Vice President

Carl joined GP Bullhound in September 2008. He has a broad experience across technology sub-sectors and cleantech and has worked on numerous transactions including the growth financing of Avito, Russia's leading online classifieds website, and the organic photovoltaic developer Heliatek's $27m private placement. Additionally, Carl has authored several research reports including "Electric Vehicles and Batteries - Charging Ahead" and "The Era of the Touch Interface is Upon us". Prior to joining GP Bullhound, Carl worked as an analyst at Jefferies International (formally know as Jefferies Broadview) covering the TMT and cleantech sectors. Julien Oussadon
Vice President

Julien joined GP Bullhound in March 2010 and has over 8 years of technology investment banking experience including working at Arma Partners, Société Générale and JPMorgan in both London and Paris. Julien has executed numerous transactions including buy-side and sell-side as well as public and private M&A. Notable transactions include the $43bn merger of VUE and NBC, the €1.6bn acquisition of debitel by freenet, the €123m sale of freenet's DSL division to United Internet and the £63m acquisition of LatentZero by Fidessa. Recently, Julien advised on the secondary sale of a significant minority equity stake in King.com. Julien focuses on a number of sectors including financial technology, entertainment software, mobile value-added services and cleantech. Julien graduated from Boston University’s School of Management with a double degree in Finance and Management Information Systems.
