Investor Allstars celebrates the velocity and strength of European tech

GP Bullhound and Bonhill Group plc announce winners of Investor Allstars 2018

London, 5 October 2018 – The winners of the 16th annual Investor Allstars Awards were revealed last night, at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane, London.

The ceremony brought together those at the forefront of Europe’s tech landscape – the investors, entrepreneurs, and advisers that have driven the exceptional growth of the European digital economy in the past year.

GP Bullhound’s Titans of Tech report recently highlighted the strength of Europe’s tech ecosystem and demonstrated the huge progress it has made towards the goal of Europe’s first $50 billion titan.

Manish Madhvani, Managing Partner of GP Bullhound, commented: “The awards showcase the strength and velocity of Europe’s tech talent, celebrating their past achievements and looking forward to another record-breaking year. The pioneering work and attitudes of those recognised last night are an inspiration, and demonstrate that European tech is a force to be reckoned with.”

Niki Dowdall, MD Events & Marketing at Bonhill Group plc, commented: “This year’s shortlist was a culmination of the most ambitious and innovative companies, investors and entrepreneurs that are leading the way for European tech and digital economy. Our winners are of the highest calibre and are leading the charge towards new goals and milestones for the tech community.”

The Exit of the Year Award went to Northzone, following the exit of Spotify. Spotify’s founders’ early risk-taking and ambitious drive were celebrated last night as Daniel Ek was also awarded Entrepreneur of the Year.

An early backer of Spotify, Pär-Jörgen Pärson of Northzone was recognised for his achievement in delivering three billion-euro plus exits for a fund, winning Investor of the Year.

Index Ventures was awarded VC Fund of the year, while General Atlantic won Growth and Buyout Fund of the Year and Albion Capital claimed VCT of the Year. IQ Capital, Fieldhouse Associates, TriplePoint Capital and Big White Wall were also winners, in the Seed Fund of the Year, Service Provider of the Year, Specialist Debt Provider of the Year and Tech4Good categories.

Prior to the Awards Ceremony, six fast-growing companies – Egress, OpenClassrooms, Partnerize, Revolut, Volocopter and Topia – presented live pitches to an audience of high profile investors, in order to be crowned Europe’s Allstar Company – with Revolut taking home the grand prize.

The event brought together over 750 leading figures from every stage of the investment cycle along with Europe’s most successful digital entrepreneurs.

The Investor Allstars Awards 2018 are jointly organised by GP Bullhound, the global technology advisory and investment firm, and Bonhill Group plc, a leading B2B media company.
