Northern Tech Awards 2019 winners announced

Winners announced for the 2019 Northern Tech Awards.

Manchester, 1 April 2019 - The Northern Tech Awards, held in Manchester, celebrated and showcased the leading tech businesses in the North of England and Scotland. The shortlist contained some of the brightest and most successful tech companies in the UK, based in the North.

An expert panel of judges, including Founding Editor of WIRED, David Rowan; President of TechUK Jacqueline de Rojas CBE; Head of M&A at Moneysupermarket Mark Gracey, serial entrepreneur Sherry Coutu CBE, awarded Matillion the Overall Judges’ Award for its role in driving tech innovation and success in the North.

Matthew Scullion, Co-founder and CEO Matillion, comments: ‘It is wonderful to be recognised alongside so many other talented entrepreneurs and leading business figures from across the North of England and Scotland. To now be classed as winners amongst some of the most well-known tech companies such as Skyscanner and The Hut Group is a real privilege.’

The phenomenal growth of Northern tech has also been recognised and awarded, with Celerity, the IT Services Company based in Preston, picking up the award for Fastest Growing Larger Company and Chester-based Wejo, winning the Fastest Growing Company.

Sheffield-based Twinkl Educational Publishing was recognised as the winner of the Judges’ Award for International Success, in recognition of its success growing the company beyond British borders.

The Awards were organised for the sixth consecutive year by global technology advisory and investment firm GP Bullhound.
