Co-founded in 2010 by CEO Rob Gay and COO Matt Cannon, Venatus is headquartered in London with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Seoul. Venatus connects advertisers and their agencies with video gaming content and community website owners (“publishers”), giving them access to the hard-to-reach and highly valuable global gaming audience.
Venatus’ addressable market is currently estimated to be around £1bn across the UK and US, with gamers representing a large, distinct and attractive segment for advertisers. Livingbridge’s investment will help Venatus establish itself as the largest global specialist in this space – facilitating its ambitious international growth plans and heavily investing in its proprietary technology.
Rob Gay and Matt Cannon, co-founders of Venatus, commented: “We are excited to be joining forces with Livingbridge. We look forward to working with the team to continue scaling our business internationally while developing our proprietary technology and product offering. GP Bullhound were the perfect advisory partner for us – they have market-leading expertise in digital services and delivered exactly the transaction we wanted.”
Simon Nicholls, Partner, and Ravi Ghedia, Director, at GP Bullhound, commented: “Venatus operates at the intersection of two large and high growth markets: programmatic advertising and video gaming, with rapid scaling enabled by its proprietary advertising technology platform. We are seeing substantial private equity interest in these markets, both with long runways of growth ahead.”
This transaction is further testament to GP Bullhound’s expertise in digital services with more than 40 deals completed in the sector in the last four years, having advised on the sale of Bliss Point Media to Tinuiti, the sale of Byte to DEPT, the merger of Orca Pacific with S4 Capital, the investment in Jellyfish by Fimalac, and the sale of Oliver to You & Mr Jones, among many others.
