The Future is Bright: How GP Bullhound is Empowering the Next Generation.

In April, we welcomed a cohort of students to GP Bullhound for our Future Stars programme. A few months later, some of them are back — this time, they’re building with AI.

Illuminating the World of Tech Investment Banking

Our Future Stars Programme offers university students a unique, week-long immersion into the exciting world of Technology Investment Banking, providing them with the opportunity to develop their skills, and gain hands-on experience alongside GP Bullhound’s global team across London, Manchester, Paris, and Berlin.

From pitching marketing strategies, stress-testing financials alongside our analysts, and navigating legal and compliance complexities in M&A deals, to attending insight sessions with dealmakers, and participating in live deal simulations alongside their mentors – Future Stars gain an authentic, immersive look inside our firm, setting the stage for their future success in the industry.

Launching the Next Generation.

Future Stars marked the start of an exciting journey. Equipped with invaluable knowledge of the intersection of tech and finance, top performers have returned to GP Bullhound to pioneer groundbreaking AI initiatives using Claude. Their fresh perspectives and technical prowess are driving innovation across the firm, showcasing the transformative impact of fostering young talent.

These ambitious young innovators are applying their newly acquired skills to build AI-powered tools alongside our teams at GP Bullhound, streamlining the dealmaking process.

“Future Stars was a great mix of deep insight and hands-on work,” says participant Sohail Shaikh. “People from across the business talked us through what they do, alongside real project work, that gave us a feel for both the banking side and the technology side. One of the projects was a Claude competition, where I built a tool to help find acquisition target: you give it a company that’s looking to buy, it works out the type of business they tend to go for, then it finds and ranks the ones that fit best.

Since coming back, I’ve been building a handful of tools for the origination teams. I’ve also been getting involved in the live deals themselves, which has been a great way to pick up the banking side.

It’s been hands-on from the start, nothing was sit-and-watch. In the first week I went from an idea to something which actually worked, and now I’m building things the teams at GP Bullhound use day to day. Getting to work on real problems and see them put to use has taught me more than I expected.”

Bridging the Gap.

Fresh thinking is essential to sharpen our vision for the futureHowever, traditionally, hands-on investment banking experience has been limited to a select few, often due to factors such as geography, network, or resources.  Many talented students face barriers such as lack of exposure to the industry, limited access to mentorship, or financial constraints that prevent them from pursuing such opportunities.

Initiatives like Future Stars play a vital role in bridging this gap, opening doors for a diverse range of talented students, and cultivating a more inclusive future for the industry. By bringing the next generation into our ecosystem, GP Bullhound is actively shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking industry landscape.
